Askham Parochial Church Council held their 14th Craft Fair and Cafe over 2 days this weekend. It is always a delight to visit Askham and meet the Ladies who all work so hard to make events like this a real success.
There was a wide selection of goods on sale pictures, knitted toys, candles, jewellery, books, plants, honey beauty products, cakes, preserves, cards, textiles and wood turnings all produced locally. In the Cafe the ladies put on a selection of delicious home-made cakes, scones, soups and sandwiches.
Rita Emerson said, “It’s wonderful to see such a wide array of craft goods for sale. We always get lots of support for our craft fair and you can see how busy our Cafe is, all the home-made the food is delicious and very popular. I’m looking forward to enjoying some of the home-made soup for my lunch!”
“Cumbria County Council helped us” said Marian Whitwham, “we were able to buy 20 tables with the help of a Council grant for £1000. We put the grant money towards buying the much needed tables.”
