Thursday 31st January 2009 has been a relaxed and easy-going day with lunch at The Sportsman Inn on the A66. It’s been snowing on and off all day and felt very cold, the temperature hasn’t made it out of the minus figures. I hope the sky clears so we can see tonight’s blue moon ( [...]

Struggling to find working LPG pumps in Cumbria

Still no LPG. Ullswater Garage say they have a fault with their LPG pump and Rheged say they have a problem on their 2 pumps due to the cold weather and are waiting on parts. Cumbria only has a few LPG stations and having no local ones working is no fun at all. Someone please [...]

Monday 28th December was another frosty one, our local temperatures dropped to -7 degrees again freezing all the melting snow from Sunday. Refreshingly cold but sunny and the sky was clear blue. We visited Long Meg and her Daughters just outside Little Salkeld in the afternoon, it was great to have the place to ourselves. [...]

It is Sunday 27th December but it doesn’t feel like a Sunday. This time of year everything feels as though it is in limbo until 1st January. Richard arranged for some friends to drop by with their motor-home so we could have a look at it and try to get an idea of the maximum [...]

Just before the sun set the freezing mist appeared giving the local landscapes an interesting look. All shots taken with 24 – 105 L Lens

Wednesday 23rd December the News & Star printed my photo in their ‘As I see it’ section page 13. They ask you to send in photos and a description to show them your outlook on life. People usually send in local views and photos of local wildlife. I sent them this photo on July 3rd [...]

We had more snow fall last night and today the temperatures have been cooler staying around zero. Most of the local roads are passable with care, they haven’t been gritted but people seem to be using them. Today, heading home after a trip into Carlisle via the A6, we were on the local road between [...]
