Hardnott pass and Roman Fort, Lake District Cumbria

I’ve had a very busy time recently so I’ve been a bit slow in updating my blog ( tisk, tisk!). These photographs were taken last week in the rain ( is that  hosepipe ban still current in Cumbria?). We spent an hour or so at the Roman Fort enjoying the views despite the rain.

We headed back up and over Hardknott pass, stopping long enough to let the foreign Audi estate take 4 attempts to get up the steepest part ( 1 in 3 gradient). Ambleside was very quiet when we drove through, The struggle and Kirkstone Pass were very wet, you can see the mist descending as we headed down to Brothers water and along Ullswater. Did I mention it was raining???

As you can see my classic Range Rover Vogue features in some of the photographs. It never skipped at beat going up Hardknott Pass, The Struggle or Kirkstone Pass.
