Scotland’s witches, churchs and scenery

At the weekend we took a drive through Path of Condie through Dunning to Auchterarder. We stepped off at Dunning to look around the Church of St Serfs, Maggie Wall stone monument which marked the spot where she was ‘burnt’.

I’ve  looked up the history behind Maggie Wall’s monument but it all seems a little vague as no one appears to know who she was. I also wanted to find out why people placed coins on her monument but again, the information I found was unclear – some people say placing coins was a mark of respect. No one knows who paints the writing on the stones either… it’s all very odd indeed!
