There was a mole who lived in a hole

Just back from doing some mole catching photography. It is part of the role of a gamekeeper to keep on top of pest control – today it was mole catching.

Although a mole is a very small animal its ability to dig a network of tunnels and chambers is quite incredible. A single mole can dig up to 90m (300ft) a day. We’ve all seen the damage moles can do, spring grass can be smothered by mounds of earth, crops contaminated by bacteria living in the soil and farm machinery ruined by the stones churned up to the surface by the mole’s digging.
