The UK’s first dedicated Deer Stalking Fair will be held on 23rd and 24th March, 2013 in Kelso, Scottish Borders.
The Fair has been put together by two experienced deer stalkers, Brian Lile and Steven McGeachie, to meet the demand for a dedicated stalking event. The indoor event is being held at the Borders Union Agricultural Society Showground, in the Springwood hall, with free onsite car parking.
Up to fifty stalking exhibitors will be present at the two day event. Exhibitors include Custom rifle builders, hunting knives makers, clothing suppliers, taxidermy, trophy measuring, optics, stalking equipment and services to name a few. The scoring of Trophy heads will be available over the weekend by the CIC.
Brian, who has stalked for more than 25 years, says: ‘The Deerstalking Fair has been organised by deerstalkers in the hope that all involved in the sport will have an interest in most, if not all of the trade stands and exhibitors there. Too many Fairs nowadays have all manner of non related products on display and we have promised the traders and public attending that because of the unique make up of this event it will be different.’
Despite the economic downturn stalking is on the up, in 2012 demand for stalking increased by more than 20%. Deer stalking is appealing to more people in the UK and across Europe and as a result stalkers diaries are booked up many months in advance. The Fair hopes to bring together stalkers and enthusiasts from all over to provide them with a weekend dedicated to deer stalking.
