The UK’s deer population hit the headlines last month after scientists from the University of East Anglia produced research arguing that a massive increase in the amount of culling may be necessary to keep numbers under control. Deer numbers have always been controlled either as part of a management plan or a cull quota. Previous recommendations were between 20% and 30%, their current recommendation is to cull over 50%.

There are now more wild deer than ever living in the UK. The six species of deer found in the wild are Muntjac, Sika, Fallow and Chinese Water deer with Red and Roe being the only natives. Deer numbers are estimated to be around 1.5 million. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
